The concept of a bicycle shop combined with a bar/restaurant was not the most obvious combination we had ever heard of, but Jerry Arron and Beverly Newman have really got the mix just right - from what was a small café above a bike shop, was soon being compared to more serious restaurants of note. The menu and service have suitably moved up a gear, as has the shop downstairs with accolades such as the "UK Best Bike Shop" in GQ Active featuring in an impressive list. In 2002 the expansion continued through the creation of the Bike Shed, an in-house facility providing locker, shower and changing facilities for cyclists commuting to work; a novel idea in conjunction with the council, that also allowed the cafe terrace to be extended above. So now there is even more room to enjoy the great views over the harbourside. Best remember that the next time you stretch out with a beer and something tasty from the kitchen.
