You could hardly say that Kathmandu is off the beaten track when it comes to dining out in Bristol, being at the base of Colston Tower and opposite Colston Hall, it is pretty much slap bang in the middle. However, the restaurant, much like the country from which it's cuisine originates appears to be stuck in between the city centre and life further up the hill. Our first visit to Kathmandu was one of the most enjoyable meals we have had in a long time and we won't amble unwittingly past this fine restaurant again. The atmosphere is a very intimate mix of traditional meets modern, and we know that you are thinking "hmmm, curry", but when it comes down to it, Kathmandu serves up an excellent selection of Nepalese and Indian food, ranging from traditional curries to Nepalese speciality dishes, such as “Sunkoshi” (a dish of fish or meat cooked in Nepalese sauce, served with potato, asparagus, saffron rice and salad), even the spices are imported from Nepal to ensure their authenticity. Worth a visit!
