Refurbished a few years ago under enthusiastic new ownership, The Hole in the Wall has a new lighter feel, while retaining the ambience in which some of the country's finest Chefs have learned their trade. After the first year's trading the new owners were pleased to have been awarded "best business lunch of the year", as well as compliments and accolades from both regular customers and new. The kitchen is under the guidance of Executive Chef Gerry Dowd, who has worked with the Roux brothers at The Waterside Inn in Bray, Peter Chandler at Paris House, John Burton-Race at L'Ortalan, and Richard Shepherd at Odin's. Gerry has created a menu offering modern British dining, strongly themed on West Country produce. Everything is made on site, including breads, icecreams, a constantly-changing set lunch and pre-theatre menu. The Hole in the Wall is a much-visited, friendly local restaurant, as well as one for special occasions and still remains one of Bath's culinary focal points.
