Recently recommended by The Sunday Times as one of the best places to eat in Bath, Chequers is firmly on the gastro map. Situated in the north of the city near The Circus, this eatery come pub has been totally transformed into a sophisticated, contemporary venue that would rival any top restaurant in the city. The emphasis here is to provide good quality, locally sourced food, with the style being wholesome, traditional but with a modern twist. All dishes are prepared fresh, to order and on the premises. The décor is fresh and clean, the flooring is polished parquet. All in all, a very nice place to enjoy an evening in. Back to the food! Favourites include homemade shepherd’s pie and local fillet steak. Their game pie is also a winner. The beer available is as locally sourced as the food. Much-loved ales from Gem and Bellringer and Butcombe Bitter are available on draft. The wine list is impressive too; try their New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, made by Vidal who was recently voted white wine maker of the year!
